On Friday, October 28th this year’s graduation ceremony of the Master Programme European and European Legal Studies took place. In a festive reception, the graduates were awarded their degrees at the Europa-Kolleg Hamburg. On the same occasion the incoming students of this year`s study course were heartly welcomed by Prof. Dr. Markus Kotzur, Director of Studies. He honored the outstanding performances of the graduates and also expressed his pleasure and pride to welcome the new students.
In her commencement speech, Professor Dr. Dr. h.c. Angelika Nußberger, Section President at the European Court of Human Rights, subsequently discussed the highly relevant issue of refugee policy. She first introduced the topic from a legal and a political perspective, before elaborating on the current jurisprudence of the European Court of Human Rights on the rights of refugees.
The opening ceremony once again underlined the very international character of the Master Programme in European and European Legal Studies at the Europa-Kolleg Hamburg. This year’s group consists of 18 students from 13 different countries, e.g. Brazil, Iran, India, German, Kenya and Syria.
