What we stand for
We stand for a Europe built on mutual understanding, solidarity, and exchange. We are committed to studying the conditions for human rights, peace, prosperity, and well-being in a European context. Through research, education, and personal encounters, we seek to encourage dialogue about the idea, history, present state, and future of Europe.
What we offer
We support international and interdisciplinary research on Europe and European affairs. We offer a degree programme at the intersection of politics, economics and law. We create a living and learning environment where students and researchers from around the world come together and learn from one another.
FOUNDATION
Europa-Kolleg Hamburg
Since 1953, the Europa-Kolleg Hamburg Foundation has supported research, teaching and academic exchange. As the supporting foundation, it provides the financial and administrative framework for the Institute for European Integration and the MEELS Master’s programme. It also offers accommodation in Hamburg for students and researchers.
INSTITUTE
for European Integration
The Institute for European Integration is an academic institution at the University of Hamburg. It conducts interdisciplinary research on Europe and European affairs. The Institute offers researchers the opportunity to work on research questions and carry out their projects in international academic exchange. Through publications, lectures and events, the Institute contributes to academic debate and makes its research accessible to a wider public.
MEELS
International Master's Programme
The one-year interdisciplinary Master’s programme “European and European Legal Studies” (MEELS) is offered by the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences at the University of Hamburg in cooperation with the Institute for European Integration at Europa-Kolleg Hamburg. The programme brings together legal, political science, and economic approaches to Europe and European integration.
