What we stand for
We stand for a Europe built on mutual understanding, solidarity, and exchange. Through education, research, and personal exchange, we seek to make European integration tangible. We are committed to studying the conditions for human rights, peace, prosperity, and well-being in a European context.
What we offer
We promote international and interdisciplinary research on Europe. In teaching, we offer a degree programme at the intersection of politics, law, and economics. We create a living and learning environment in which students and researchers from around the world come together to exchange knowledge and jointly address European issues.
FOUNDATION
Europa-Kolleg Hamburg
Since 1953, the Europa-Kolleg Hamburg Foundation has enabled research, teaching, and academic exchange on European issues. As the supporting body, it provides the financial and administrative framework for the Institute for European Integration and the MEELS Master’s programme. It also offers accommodation in Hamburg for students and researchers.
INSTITUTE
for European Integration
The Institute for European Integration is an academic institution at the University of Hamburg. It promotes interdisciplinary research on European integration. It brings together researchers from around the world and offers them the opportunity to develop their projects on site through academic exchange. Through publications, lectures, and events, the Institute contributes to scholarly debate and makes research on European issues accessible to a wider public.
MEELS
International Master's Programme
The one-year interdisciplinary Master’s programme “European and European Legal Studies” (MEELS) is offered by the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences at the University of Hamburg in cooperation with the Institute for European Integration at Europa-Kolleg Hamburg. The programme brings together legal, political science, and economic approaches to Europe and European integration.
