Living in the college
The Europa-Kolleg Hamburg is not only a place of learning and research, but also a pleasant place to live. The campus is located in the beautiful and green district of Groß Flottbek. The Elbe beach, HafenCity and the city center, as well as the University of Hamburg and the city's numerous research institutes, can be reached quickly and easily by public transport. Shopping facilities for daily needs can be found in the immediate vicinity of the campus.
The residents
Diversity in campus life
Our guests come from all over the world. They study or conduct research at the Europa-Kolleg, the University of Hamburg or the German Electron Synchrotron DESY. Others work at the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea, the Max Planck Institutes in Hamburg, Eppendorf University Hospital, the Bernhard Nocht Institute or the Klein-Flottbek Biocenter. This interesting, international environment facilitates an exciting exchange between all residents - and inspires our campus community as a whole.
The equipment
Comfortable & practical
The building has 54 single apartments, five double apartments and eight rooms. All rooms are fully furnished and equipped with internet access. Kitchen utensils, pots and pans and crockery are provided. The apartments are equipped with shower/WC and a pantry kitchen, the double apartments with shower/WC and some with a separate kitchen. The rooms in the basement do not have their own bathroom, but do have a washbasin. Shower room and toilets are located in the same corridor.
The living areas are cleaned by our own staff every 4-6 weeks with prior notice.
There is also a lounge, a table tennis room and a washing and drying room (with washing machine, dryer and iron). In warmer weather, our guests can enjoy their stay in the hotel's own garden. There are barbecue facilities and an outdoor chess area. Sufficient parking spaces and bicycle racks are available.

Rental conditions:
- In accordance with the statutes of the non-profit Europa-Kolleg Hamburg Foundation, the accommodation is rented out to academics and students from Germany and abroad.
- The apartment is only rented in full months for at least 6 months. In exceptional cases, a shorter rental period is also possible (subject to availability).
- A deposit is not charged.
- The rent is payable by bank transfer at the beginning of each month.
- The rent includes: Heating, water, internet connection, 4-6 weekly cleaning, use of communal facilities.
- Not included in the rent: Bed linen and electricity costs. Electricity consumption is read and invoiced monthly.
- A one-off final cleaning fee of 250-300 € is due with the first rental payment (depending on the size of the apartment).
