In view of the current global political upheavals, Europe is more than ever called upon to reassess its role as a global player. This process must also be accompanied by academic research. We are therefore very pleased that the Europa-Kolleg Hamburg, together with its cooperation partners, the University of Hamburg, the German-European Center for European Dialogue at Villa Vigoni and the Istituto della Eciclopedia Italiana Treccani, will be a guest at Fudan University in Shanghai from May 25 to 27, 2025 as part of the Hamburg-Vigoni Forum. In the realm of the “China-EU Dialogue on Global Governance and the Role of Culture”, not only scholars but also students from China and Europe will discuss how to enable effective global governance in times of strategic rivalries, global crises and growing uncertainty. Even if many questions remain unanswered, one thing is certain: for global cooperation we need intercultural exchange, which has always been a core concern of the Europa-Kolleg
