European competition law is directly applicable in the Member States of the European Community. The national courts therefore fulfill an important function in the implementation of the Community competition rules. A research project led by the editor of this volume is dedicated to the study of the judicial practice of the Member State courts. This volume presents the country reports for Great Britain and Italy. Further country reports are in preparation.
Practitioners of European competition law are thus provided with access to case law in other Member States; the Community institutions are given an insight into the implementation of Community law by the national courts; academics find the material for further comparative analyses.
The authors are competition lawyers from the respective Member States. The editor is a professor at the University of Hamburg and a member of the board of directors of the Institute for Integration Research of the Stiftung EUROPA-KOLLEG Hamburg.
