At the Europa-Kolleg Hamburg, Mr. Saitto is working on a research project entitled «European political parties and European public space from the Maastricht Treaty to the Reg. No. 1141/2014. A historical and comparative analysis». His research focuses on political parties at the European level, dealing with their legal acknowledgment, their function in the European public space and their nature in a historical perspective. The aim of the project is to analyze the recent Reg. No. 1141/2014, in order to highlight the most significant innovations, such as the establishment of an authority for European political parties and European political foundations. Recent developments and future perspectives will be compared with some national experiences, namely Germany and Italy.
