Prof. Dr. Markus Kotzur is travelling to Georgia to sign a Memorandum of Understanding negotiated with involvement of the Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ). This MoU is inspired by the Association Agreement between the European Union and Georgia, which includes cooperation in the field of higher education. To this end, the Europa-Kolleg Hamburg is cooperating with the Georgian universities involved.

The aim of the cooperation is to promote a high quality of teaching in the field of European law and European studies in higher education, to promote international academic cooperation in this field, to deepen understanding and knowledge of the European integration process in Georgia and to conduct a scientific dialogue on relations between the European Union (EU) and the EU and Georgia.

Enhanced cooperation will be explored in the following areas:

  • Courses of study
  • research activities
  • Training and development opportunities for doctoral students
  • Student exchange and/or visit programmes
  • exchange of information, including the results of teaching and research cooperation
  • all other activities considered beneficial to both parties

Professor Kotzur will also give a lecture on Thursday, Oct. 24, 2019 on “Human Rights Protection in the European Union” for Students of the University of Georgia in Tbilisi.
