Hardly an element of the European internal market is so controversial as the freedom of services. Although services today are already the largest part of the gross domestic product of the member states, attempts made by the European Commission to make cross-border exchange easier are partially met with bitter political opposition. Has the freedom of services in the internal market already today met its boundaries or does it have its future ahead of it?
